counterfeit check. We are a wholesale distributor of
bolts, nuts and screws and have no part in any drawing
for prize money. The perpetrators of the scam have gotten
hold of our bank account number and printed counterfeit,
bogus checks and mailed them out to innocent people in an
effort to get them to write checks from their bank
accounts to cover "taxes" and "handling
fees" so huge winnings can be sent to them from
Canada. Needless to say, they will not receive anything
from Canada, but will lose the money they send to Canada.
When we discovered the problem, we notified our bank
immediately and they put a stop on any payments out of
our account and closed the account. Further more, they
are aggressively pursuing anyone participating in the
scam. We are told by our bank and others that hundreds of
companies are having the same problem. |
